Blackmagic Design Teranex AV - Used

The Teranex AV boasts a low latency of 67 milliseconds, to instantly convert HDMI or SDI to any format and transmit perfectly synchronized content; think of the live performance of a piano concert broadcast synchronously on a giant screen during the performance.

Users will enjoy advanced processing thanks to HDMI 2.0 Type A input, loop and output connections, enabling conversion of HDMI and SDI formats without resorting to external hardware. Using the HDMI loop output you can retransmit the signal to video projectors while Teranex converts and sends the signal to devices such as decks and monitors.

Teranex AV integrates two HiFi connections, and two XLR connections carrying four channels of AES/EBU or two channels of balanced analog audio. HiFi connections are essential for audiovisual professionals because they are compatible with lapel microphones, laptops and other devices equipped with consumer audio connections. Now users can connect any audio source to Teranex AV, which integrates it into video and outputs the resulting signal in any format.

Teranex AV also includes a frame archive, which keeps a frame in any format in memory even when the device reboots. Thanks to this function it is possible to save and display company logos during a conference, or view sponsors at live events between performances. Additionally, Teranex AV offers internal resynchronization to enable precise switching between archived frames and live feeds, perfect for professional presentations.

The freeze frame function temporarily freezes an image on the screen, until the user is ready to switch to another video source, a black frame or an archived frame. This feature applies perfectly during conferences, where the operator fixes a slide on the screen while the speaker makes changes to the presentation. Thanks to the freeze-frame function and frame archive, it is always possible to display an image on the screen.

In addition to HDMI and 12G-SDI connections, Teranex AV also includes quad link 3G-SDI outputs that are compatible with a wide range of older Ultra HD monitors and projectors that only offer quad link SDI 1080 HD. Therefore Teranex AV also acts as a video wall processor because it separates and routes the Ultra HD signal to four HD screens, or optimizes the HD image and displays it on four large screens. Thanks to its performance, users can create stunning outdoor giant screens and enchant audiences at live events!

Teranex AV also houses BNC inputs and outputs to generate or receive reference signals. The integrated ethernet port allows for remote control, and the fiber optic housing is present to accommodate SMPTE modules and allow video and audio coverage over large distances. Furthermore, the back of the device has side flaps that protect the cables in portable installations, in mobile control rooms and on site.

With Teranex AV, users have access to 1089 types of conversion in higher and lower resolution, cross and standard for formats up to 2160p60 in 10 bit quality. Like all Teranex processors, the AV model boasts patented algorithms and powerful processing that delivers conversions so clear they're indistinguishable from the source. Conversions are performed with optical-quality image scaling, advanced deinterlacing techniques, noise reduction, and automatic 3:2 pulldown cadence detection, removal and insertion. They also retain timecode, auxiliary data, audio, and more.
