The 4K Z Cam E2 has not been released for a long time, but it is gaining the praise of the bucket for, well, its really good image as well as the build quality. No other camera near its price range, or size, can record 120fps 4K in slow motion using the full sensor raster.
The Z Cam is proving that the new wave of Chinese camera manufacturers is becoming a serious force to be reckoned with. These are not cameras with a little flicker to bear here and there to compensate for their relatively low prices. No, these are serious cameras that work and are ready for production.
The cameras will also be available in versions with EF or PL socket with the 6K S35 model with the possibility of an MFT mount. The 6K S35 model can produce a 6244 x 4168 image up to 30 fps. Switching to 6124 x 3240 allows you to get 48 fps, while you can get a maximum of 60 fps with sensor clipping in DCI and UHD 4K.
Recording is performed on CFast 2.0 cards with H.265 or H.264 compression up to 300Mbps in 10-bit colors. However, it is important to remember that the original Z Cam E2 started recording in these formats, but later got ProRes through a firmware update.
As for the original camera, the two features ISO native, ISO320 and ISO1000, while users can select from Rec.709, Z-Log2, flat or HLG depending on how they deal with post production.
The cameras can record audio via XLR, which requires a 5-pin XLR Lemo adapter. The lemos are not cheap, but this allows the cameras a small form factor while allowing the use of 2-channel XLR audio.
The energy comes from the L series batteries, which have now become ubiquitous on many different types of hardware. Cameras can also be synchronized together, with up to 100 cameras supported.
